Embracing the Future


	City Club of Tacoma programs feature well known speakers on a variety of topics significant to its members and to the South Sound community. While most programs are centered on a principal speaker, others have included outings, candidate forums, and special ethnic-cultural presentations. The Program Committee strives to put together meetings and activities that are of interest to the membership. You are encouraged to contact the Program Committee through the City Club Office with any suggestions you may have as to program content.

February 25^th Noon Roundtable The Vault	PLU Exchange Students at Salishan
February 24^th Noon Roundtable The Vault	Women in the Military -Colonel Lyn Sherlock, Commander of 62nd Operations Group, McChord AFB and soon to be Wing Commander at Travis AFB, California, largest base in the United States Air Force. Colonel Sherlock shared some anecdotes from her career and shared her perspective on women in the military.
February 18^thNoon Luncheon Sheraton Ballroom	Higher Education in Washington State - Former Governor Booth Gardner and Herb Simon, Higher Education Commission Board Member, spoke about their endeavors to save higher education in this state. Dawn Lucien coordinates.
February 11^th Noon Roundtable The Vault	Save Our Bridge - update on the status of the Murray Morgan Bridge.
February 4^th 6 pm Dinner UPS Wheelock Center Rotunda	Is Electronic Voting the Way to Go? - Sam Reed, Secretary of State, and Bev Harris, electronic voting expert, will be our guest speakers. Grace Eubanks and Marshall Macy coordinate.	Secretary of State Sam Reed
January 28^th Noon Roundtable The Vault	Emergence of the Hispanic Market as a Business Factor in Pierce County - Alfonso Montoya, Executive Director of Centro Latino, will discuss the fastest growing market of consumers in our county. Coordinator of this program is Sue Schaeffer.	Alfonso Montoya
January 21^stNoon Luncheon Sheraton Ballroom	Pierce County Dumping Ground - Jerry Horne and John Ladenburg will explain the pros and cons of using Pierce County as a dumping ground for released felons, including sex offenders. January 14^th Noon Roundtable The Vault	The Real Plan for Washington Education - Phil Talmadge, Former State Senator and Supreme Court Justice, will speak about the next evolution needed in our public education system. Program is coordinated by Sue Schaeffer.	Phil Talmadge
January 7^th 6 pm Dinner UPS Wheelock Center Rotunda	Peter Callaghan and Contemporaries. Our friend Peter returns for his traditional pithy forecast of the upcoming legislative year in Olympia and asks some stimulating questions of his guests. Grace Eubanks coordinates.	Peter Callaghan
